Don’t Be That Girl: How to Support Your Single Friends

Chatting Women

When it comes to be a good friend, I am the number one girl’s girl! I’m always there for my friends when they’re sick, sad, mad, happy, and every other emotion under the sun (sometimes all in one day). But something that we all seem to struggle with is supporting our single friends when they seem to be fed up with the single life. You all know what I’m talking about. We’ve all had those chats that begin with “I need a man”! Our first instinct is to recite over-used phrases that every single woman has heard at least a million times. “You’re looking for love in all the wrong places.” or “You’re just being too picky! Lower your standards a little.” Phrases like these are pointless, unsupportive, and just down-right silly. Today, we’re going to learn (together) how to support our single friends without being cliché.

Flat Out In Love: Slip-On Sneakers

slipon

Beginning in the early 2000s, Vans and other shoe companies revolutionized sneakers by creating slip-ons; sneakers that featured the classic closed-toed style but didn’t have laces! Kjaej

Quite often, women find themselves debating whether each given day is a “no-makeup day” a “barely there makeup day” or a “beauty queen day”. Although makeup is truly an enhancement, women find it hard to decide to what degree their makeup should be applied. One of the main reasons for this is the long and short term affects that come with wearing even a minimal amount of makeup. While some women enjoy wearing makeup, some have to evaluate the risks that come with wearing or trying a new product; this includes but is not limited to skin irritation, breakouts, and occasional allergic reactions. For example, I have eczema and have to keep an eye out for facial cosmetics that have drying or abrasive ingredients. Not all companies are focused on formulating their cosmetics to be user friendly; most makeup companies use chemicals that are often irritating and harmful to the wearer because they guarantee an even coloring or a smooth finish for the wearer. One company that really stands out for their eco-friendly and user-friendly approach is Kjaer Weis, a certified organic makeup company created by Danish-born, New York-based makeup artist Kirsten Kjær Weis. Inspired by the skin-irritating crowd favorites that Kirsten witness while attending photo-hoots and other fashion events, she strived to create a makeup brand that was organic while still being a luxury. After all, what attracts a women to a new lipstick more than the packaging?
